What an execrably vacuous show. So Darfur is the 'greatest humanitarian crisis', because an A-list Hollywood star has chosen to champion the cause. Well 5 times more people have been killed in Iraq with the direct complicity of Clooney's own government. What is he doing about that? As a matter of fact, we do know. He is cavorting with the same people who started the war (his UN appearance was arranged by John Bolton). Why not Congo -- 10 times more people have died there (2m at last count).

I've been watching AlJazeera English in the US from the minute it went live via satellite.
Anyone here can get it for less than $200.00. All you need is a small dish and a receiver. PM me and I'll tell you where I get my receivers.
I've learned more about the world from AlJazeera than all the other US TV stations combined.
It would be wonderful if DirecTV would carry AlJazeera in North America.

I should? So a measure of the seriousness a humanitarian crisis is that a filmstar considers it worthy of attention?
This may be too complicated for you to grasp but a media institution has a responsibility to make claims only if they can be sustained by facts. Yes, Darfur is a serious issue, but by no means the 'most serious'. Also, according to the UN agencies it has been exacerbated by the propagandistic interventions of dubious outfits like Save Darfur.

Agree... I would like to have more choices than CNN, Fox and MSNBC. Coverage of events outside the U.S. is thin and, because of corporate ownership, in many cases, very biased.

Is this about "who's is bigger"? So you happen to think the Congo is more important or significant. Maybe I think a partitioned Northern Ireland is more important... so what. The point is, the man is a good man who is, at least, trying to do SOMETHING. Most people, like YOU, sit on their fat asses in front of a computer and whine. Instead of criticizing someone who is making an effort, why don't you go volunteer at a children's center or help a disabled neighbor or SOMETHING...

You seem to know a lot about me, including the size of my ass. Or are you projecting?
As a matter of fact, I do work with disadvantaged children and have in the past volunteered for MSF. Perhaps that is why I have little time for phonies. But you seem to have an obsession with size (projecting inadequacies perhaps?). I am talking about the magnitude of crises here. Enlighten me if 2 million people have died in N. Ireland recently. Otherwise Congo remains a more serious humanitarian crisis.

what? did u know that, which im sure you'll say u did, that knowbody knew about darfur until hollywood brought light to it. Don't criticize something that helps people. If you really do help other's out then why are you complaining. You yourself help out disadvantage children...why not join the red cross go across seas and help other's out. I don't see how you feel people should concentrate on one area. No need to put people down b/c u no likey...he's still doing a good thing.

It may have come to YOUR attention through Hollywood, the rest of the world always knew. The conflict ought to have ended in 2003. It was the intervention of neocons and their useful idiots that has helped reignite and prolong it. Even the UN was compelled recently to plead these groups to stop their machinations for cheap propaganda. Perhaps it doesn't strike you as ironic that the people Clooney has joined hands with on Darfur are precisely those who are the most implacable warmongers on Iraq.

The UN only helped when pressure was presented to them, and guess who was there to pust it...Clooney...the same man you criticize. I'm not a fan of Clooney, but I am a fan of ppl who help. I've seen this before, Tiffany. It's deep jealousy. They will pick on anything/everything they can to try to detract from Mr. Clooney's considerable accomplishments. No point, really, to even discuss with that type. They are positively consumed with envy.
